ACOM Student Scholarships
Your gift will assist with financial scholarships for osteopathic medical students attending ACOM.
These scholarships provide monetary assistance to help defray the cost of medical school.
Cancer Services
Employee donations will help to assist with patient transportation assistance and meal vouchers, as well as support the purchase of equipment and resources to ensure that cancer patients receive the best possible care at Southeast Health Cancer Center.
Critical Care Unit
Employee giving has funded equipment to ensure that patients receiving care for life-threatening injuries and illnesses are consistently monitored and that they get the appropriate care plan. Most recently employees funded the purchase of a Fujifilm Sonosite for the CCU.
Emergency Services
Most recently, employee giving supported the purchase of a Confocal Scanning Ophthalmoscope which will help to accurately diagnose patients who visit the Emergency Department with eye issues.
Employee Benevolence
Gifts to support the employee benevolence program assist Southeast Health employees, volunteers, and ACOM students who have experienced a catastrophic event or unusually dire financial circumstance. The program is managed by the employee benevolence committee, a volunteer group consisting of Southeast Health and ACOM employees.
Family Birth Center
Your gift will help provide family-centered healthcare to expectant mothers and their babies. Employee giving recently funded two lactation lounges, one is located in the EPIC Warehouse and the other is located by family birth at Southeast Health Medical Center.
HeartSafe
By supporting the HeartSafe Initiative you will be expanding the care provided by Southeast Health outside of the Medical Center by providing automated external defibrillators (AED) to local businesses, churches, and organizations and helping to train citizens throughout the Wiregrass in Hands-Only CPR and AED.
Heart & Vascular
Employee contributions support the purchase of new technology like an ultrasound to perform echocardiograms on heart patients as well as providing Shumsky Therapeutic Heart Pillows for our heart surgery patients. These pillows provide consistent sternal support for improved healing and reduce pain during coughing, deep breathing, and moving.
Laboratory Medicine
Most recently, employee giving supported the purchase of a Hematek 3000 slide stainer for the Lab. This technology increases efficiency and reduces errors, allowing patients to receive accurate treatment and quality care.
Loftin Children’s Programs
Your gift will fund items for our pediatric patients such as thermometers, the inpatient playroom, plush comfort support for pediatric patients, and the pediatric reading program at Southeast Health Enterprise Clinic.
Michael Miller Memorial Scholarship
Named in memory of a beloved Southeast Health family member, Michael Miller, your gift will support scholarships for Southeast Health’s teenage volunteers. Michael spent countless volunteer hours coaching and mentoring the youth. This scholarship keeps his legacy alive by supporting the dreams of Southeast Health’s teenage volunteers.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Gifts support our tiniest patients and the region’s only Level III NICU, designed to care for critically ill babies and premature newborns. Employee giving has funded specialized beds, rockers, high-frequency ventilators, and the NICU reading program.
Nutrition & Food Service
Most recently, employee gifts have helped purchase a golf cart to assist with meal transportation and plate warmers to keep the patient’s food at appropriate temperatures while delivering to rooms.
Palliative Care
Employee giving supports the needs of the palliative care team ensuring they have the tools they need to help patients and their caregivers with decisions while offering emotional and spiritual support.
Patient Care Nursing Services
By supporting Southeast Health’s nursing services your gift allows for increased educational opportunities such as the critical care nurse residency program, a student nursing lounge, as well as the DAISY Award program, and the annual Nurses Week celebration.
Patsy S. McGowan
Memorial Scholarship
Patsy was a beloved member of the Southeast Health Medical Center Surgery department for 51 years. In memory of Patsy, the Southeast Health Employee Advisory Council awarded an initial $51,000 to establish a scholarship. Patient Transportation /
Prescription Assistance
Your gift will ensure that patients who cannot afford their prescribed medications will still have access to what they need while waiting for assistance from drug companies. It will also assist patients undergoing treatment who cannot afford transportation to and from appointments with gas vouchers.
Perinatal Bereavement
Employee giving to the Foundation provides support for grieving parents to lean on during a devastating time of loss. The Perinatal Bereavement Program, which was established in 2020, provides keepsakes, care items and a private space for bereaved patients to remember their child with extended bonding time as they begin the emotional healing process. Since the initiation of the bereavement program by the Foundations others in community have embraced the need to reach out to these parents by providing additional keepsakes. There is no greater loss than the death of a newborn baby, thanks to your generosity the parents aren’t alone in their time of grief.
Pharmacy
Through employee giving the pharmacy has received support to help streamline processes and improve the delivery of medications throughout the hospital. This has a significant impact on the care that patients receive at the bedside.
Ronald S. Owen Scholarship
Employee donations support scholarships awarded to eligible dependent children of Southeast Health employees. Your gift will make a significant impact and help to alleviate the financial burden from educational expenses.
Rehab Services
Employee gifts have funded a pediatric sensory room at Rehab East, lymphedema garments, an infant scale for the Maternal Infant Health Program, Neurobalance Hoyer Lift, and a weight storage rack.
Spiritual Care
Employee giving will provide comfort to a family as they grieve the loss of a loved one through the Heartbeat in a Bottle (HIB) program. HIB provides cardiac rhythm strips in glass bottles for families in the event of a patient’s death. Over the past 5 years, HIB has provided families with over 2000 bottles. Employee gifts also funded the Oasis Room and the Sanctuary at Southeast Health Medical Center.
Stroke Care
Your gifts not only support equipment and technology to care for stroke patients but also helps to fund the annual Stroke Symposium. This symposium brings together more than 100 multidisciplinary healthcare providers for an opportunity to learn the latest treatment protocols, advanced techniques, and changes in post-stroke care from top experts on stroke treatment and telemedicine.
Surgery
Contributions from employee giving support technology and equipment in our surgery department and ensure that patients at Southeast Health receive only the best in surgical care.
Women’s Health Services
By supporting Women’s Health Services you are funding important community initiatives that educate women throughout the Wiregrass on current health and wellness trends.
You & I Projects – General Purpose
The You & I Campaign Council will meet annually to review grant requests from departments at Southeast Health and allocate funding for requested projects and equipment. By giving to You & I projects you are supporting unexpected needs.
